Happy New Year and Welcome to our Blog!

We decided to set up this blog so that we could share family and extended family photographs and news with all our family and friends near and far. We hope that you enjoy finding out what is going on in and around Midland.

For those of you who are more than 100 miles away you may not know that Midland is actually part of Columbus. We are out in the "panhandle" of Columbus. When Steve and I moved here in 1989 we were out in the country. That is not completely true now. The population over the last fifteen years has probably tripled. We love our home though and have no plans to move.

This is a photograph of our home taken in December.

I am currently on Christmas break and will return to work January 7. Most of you know that I retired in 2005. What you might not know is I returned to teaching the following February in a job-sharing capacity. That means I share teaching responsibilities with another teacher. I am working at the same school I retired from...across the hall...and am teaching the same grade (second). I teach language arts and work approximately 20 hours a week. This year I have a very special student in my room. I have the pleasure of teaching another niece. Leila's daughter Brittney is one of my very best students! You can see her photograph below. I have not decided if I will teach next year as I really want to pursue my photography interest. All the photographs on this page were taken by me.

Steve continues to work for the Georgia Lottery. He is the district manager and really enjoys his work. He has no plans to retire any time soon. He'd love to though so he could spend more time "cutting grass" with his tractor!

Mom is doing really well. She just cooked a very delicious traditional New Year's dinner for the gang. The dinner included blackeyed peas, lima beans, collard greens, potato casserole, sweet potatoes, corn bread (ya'll know about her yummy corn bread) and much more. Steve and I just ate leftovers tonight. Mom, Fred, Steve and I, Anne, Tommy and Amy, Leila, Steve, Brittney and Sydney and Steve's daughter Lindsay, Donnie, Katie and our newest Andrew were guests. Lynn, Tommy, Melissa, Josh and Hunter and Robert were not able to come.

I hope you enjoyed these photographs. I'll add more later. Happy New Year to each of you!
